ODYSSEY POETRY at ALL
Gertrude instigated a voyage of discussions with older learners who are on "making the most of your retirement".
On a beautiful June mid-morning, Gertrude Badejo led a poetry session at the Adult LEARNING Lewisham (formerly known as Community Education Lewisham), Brockley Rise, London SE23.
She shared a host of her writings with the older learners who eagerly contributed with commentaries. It was a delight to hear other people read Gertrude's poems aloud. A gentleman who is in the field of healing attributed the phrase "BE STILL" to Gertrude's poem "THE VOICE WITHIN". The whole entourage read the chorus to "THE RAINBOW CHILDREN". Hearty laughters were shared when the poem "I AM JEZEBEL" was performed by Gertrude.
The joy of being in the mist of older people is their hoard of knowledge and their ability to 'speak their mind' without acrimony. During the session, the poems insitigated a visit to memory lane with discourse on classical poets, the war time, politicians, fairer society, ettiquettes and children. There were lots of complements, and, each participant felt good!
Thanks to Wendy de Reus (a tutor) who made my presence possible.
PLEASE CONTACT ME if you would like to hear more about my poetry and
other written works, or hire me for a Public Speaking Event.
